The Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Warriors of Zimbabwe have both arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Tuesday, March 25.
Nigeria heads into the match with renewed confidence after securing a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, marking their first win in the qualifying campaign.
The win propelled the Super Eagles to fourth place in the group with six points from five matches, surpassing Lesotho, who lost 2-0 to South Africa.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, remains bottom of the table with three points, following a 2-2 draw with Benin Republic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Despite their struggles, the Warriors will take encouragement from their 1-1 draw against Nigeria in their previous meeting at the Stade Huye, Butare, Rwanda.
The Super Eagles landed at Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo at 2:15 PM on Sunday after traveling from Kigali. The team took a brief rest before resuming training ahead of the match.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean team has also arrived in Uyo, knowing they need a win to keep their fading World Cup hopes alive.
Although they remain winless in the qualifiers, they will be looking to cause an upset against a Super Eagles side determined to climb higher in the standings.
With both teams eager for a positive result, the stage is set for an exciting showdown in Uyo as Nigeria looks to build momentum in their quest for a 2026 FIFA World Cup berth.
