FG Names Six Chief Medical Directors for Key Teaching Hospital

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of six Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) for federal hospitals across Nigeria, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to improving the nation’s healthcare system.

The announcement was made on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. The newly appointed CMDs will oversee key medical institutions, ensuring efficiency, quality service delivery, and enhanced healthcare management.

List of Newly Appointed CMDs:

  1. Prof. Olusegun Ojo – Federal Teaching Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.
  2. Prof. Yusuf Abdullahi – Reappointed as CMD, Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
  3. Dr. Dauda Katagum – Confirmed as substantive CMD, Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, Bauchi State.
  4. Dr. Ikrama Hassan – Federal Teaching Hospital, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
  5. Dr. Ali Ramat – National Orthopedic Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State.
  6. Dr. Haruna Shehu – Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

According to Onanuga, the appointments take effect from the assumption of office and will last for a four-year tenure. President Tinubu has tasked the CMDs with upholding professionalism, accountability, and excellence in healthcare service delivery.

The move is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance Nigeria’s medical infrastructure and improve access to quality healthcare for citizens across the country.
