Senate Moves To Suspend Natasha For Six Months, Withdraws Salaries, All Privileges

Date:

The Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP Kogi Central) for six months.

This followed a report of the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition read before plenary on Thursday by the chairman of the Committee, Senator Imsuen, Neda Bernards (Edo South).

The Red chamber also withdrew all privileges such as salaries due to her and all legislative aides attached to her.

The Committee also recommended that Senator Natasha be barred from accessing her office in the National Assembly, and barred from accessing the premises of the National Assembly, as well as parading herself as a Senator in the 10th Assembly.

Recall, on Wednesday Senator Natasha shunned a meeting of the committee which sought to query the altercation last week in the Chamber when she openly refused to move to a new seat allocated to her.

She had, during the time, accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of refusing to recognise and give her the opportunity to contribute to the activities of the day.

Details soon . . .
