Nigeria Recording Trade Expansion Under AfCFTA – Oduwole

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has reeled out the ministry`s achievements as she marks one year in office.

Speaking during Monday`s ministerial briefing to showcase the ministry`s progress and plans, she said the FMITI has so far recorded progress in trade expansion under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and landmark investment initiatives positioning Nigeria as a premier investment destination in Africa.

According to her, her tenure`s goal “is to foster sustainable development, attract investments, and position Nigeria as a competitive player on the global stage.”

She also revealed that the federal government was committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and contribute to the country’s prosperity.

The minister said FMITI was committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government, adding that it has put in place strategic reforms and industrial initiatives aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s economic transformation.

She further disclosed efforts aimed at placing the country as a premier investment destination in Africa, such as the establishment of the Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG)

The ministerial briefing is attended by senior government officials, agency heads, and members of the press, and serves as an interactive forum for transparent discussions on economic development, trade facilitation, and investment promotion.

She also emphasized the administration’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development, reflecting the country`s long-term economic aspirations.

This is as the ministry expressed resolve to promote economic diversification, supporting SMEs, and enhancing Nigeria’s trade and investment landscape.

Dr Oduwole pointed out government’s economic revolutionary efforts to include, the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP), Special Agro-Processing Zones (SAPZ), and the revitalization of the Cotton, Textile, and Garments (CTG) industry, which she said are set to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s industrial sectors.
