Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has achieved a remarkable milestone with his latest single, Kese, which garnered over 1.5 million streams on Spotify within 24 hours of release. This achievement breaks the previous record held by Davido’s Awuke and sets a new standard for Nigerian music on global streaming platforms.
Kese is a standout track from Wizkid’s newly released album, Morayo, which has already gained widespread acclaim. The album’s momentum follows the success of Piece of My Heart, a collaboration with American artist Brent Faiyaz, which also surpassed one million Spotify streams on its debut day.
According to Chart Data, Wizkid dominates Nigeria’s streaming charts, securing the top two spots for highest-streamed debut songs. Kese leads with record-breaking numbers, followed by Piece of My Heart.
Meanwhile, Wizkid’s collaboration with Asake on the Grammy-nominated track MMS from Asake’s album Lungu Boy claimed the third spot, racking up 870,000 streams on its debut day.
These achievements further cement Wizkid’s position as a global music icon and underscore the growing impact of Afrobeats on the international music scene.
