U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles draw South Africa, Egypt, Morocco

Date:

  • Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn into a challenging Group B alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, set to take place in Ivory Coast from April 26 to May 18.

The seven-time champions will aim for a strong start in their group stage campaign to build momentum for the tournament.

At the last edition in Egypt, the Flying Eagles secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the host nation during the group phase, eventually finishing in third place.

The draw, conducted at the CAF headquarters in Egypt on Thursday, was assisted by former Malian player Adama Coulibaly, who described Group B as the toughest in the competition.

Meanwhile, hosts Ivory Coast will compete in Group A alongside DR Congo, Ghana, Tanzania, and a yet-to-be-determined representative from the Central African zone.

Defending champions Senegal lead Group C, which includes Zambia and tournament debutants Kenya and Sierra Leone.

The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will progress to the quarter-finals.

The Flying Eagles will look to add an eighth title to their collection as they prepare for what promises to be a fiercely contested tournament.
