16 Sokoto Communities Benefit from BUA Cement’s N35m Medical Donation

Date:

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, BUA Cement, one of Africa’s leading cement manufacturers, has donated medical supplies worth N35 million to 16 communities in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The official handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, with BUA Cement’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yusuf Binji, represented by the Director of Administration and Corporate Services, Sada Suleiman.

Binji reiterated the company’s commitment to improving healthcare in its host communities, ensuring hospitals and clinics have access to essential medications.

“This initiative is our way of giving back to the communities that have continuously supported us,” Binji said, stressing that the donation is an annual program aimed at enhancing the well-being of local residents.

He further highlighted other CSR projects by the company, including scholarships, the provision of potable water, and the construction of mosques to promote community development.

In addition to the medical supplies, BUA Cement announced the completion of seven solar-powered boreholes in various locations across the state, which are set for commissioning soon. The company has also provided full school uniforms for pupils in five primary schools within its host communities.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Umaru Ahmad—represented by the Director of Health Services, Umar Sani Tureta—commended BUA Cement for its generosity. He called on other companies operating in Sokoto State to emulate BUA’s example by investing in community development.

Ahmad assured that the medical supplies would be properly distributed to those in need, particularly women and children, and stressed that the medications must be given free of charge and should not be sold.

BUA Cement’s CEO also thanked Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for his continuous support and pledged to collaborate further with the government to improve the lives of residents.
