The former Director General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, has been kidnapped alongside nine others after bandits invaded his residence at Tsiga village, located in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.
This attack occured in the early hours of Thursday, February 4, around 12:30 a.m.
A male eyewitness who chose to be anonymous noted that the armed assailants raided the community, with one of them firing shots into the air to intimidate the residents.
He stated that the terrorists shot three people from the community, including the two sons of Tsiga’s neighbor, before kidnapping him and nine others, taking them to nearby forests in the area
The eyewitness mentioned that those injured in the attack are being treated at the Comprehensive Healthcare Centre in the community, but efforts are being made to transfer them to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina due to the severity of their injuries.
He said, “During the attack, General Muharazu Ibrahim Tsiga pleaded to give them all what they wanted, but the bandits declined his request and kidnapped him.
“They abducted nine other residents of the community.”
Adding that, “His family are not here with him. Only some of his relatives and personal security guards were with him during the attack, but the bandits kidnapped only him in the residence.
The relatives of Tsiga revealed he has been struggling with an undisclosed illness since leaving office.
However, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, has not made any comment regarding the incident.
