Middlesbrough have made two deadline-day signings by bringing in Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling-Junior, followed by Kelechi Iheanacho.
Former Manchester City and Leicester City striker Iheanacho, 28, has signed from La Liga side Sevilla until the end of the season, as has England U-21 international Iling-Junior.
Iheanacho will be looking to add to his career total of 85 goals, most of which came in seven seasons at Leicester before he left for southern Spain last summer.
He has scored just three times in 11 appearances this season – all in the Copa Del Rey – and has made only five league starts.
Iling-Junior, 21, was in Chelsea’s academy before moving to Juventus in 2020, then moved to Villa last summer, and he has spent the first half of the season on loan in Italy with Serie A side Bologna.
He scored twice in 16 appearances for Bologna, including a winning goal against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in December.
Michael Carrick’s Boro, were seventh in the Championship going into Monday’s Tees-Wear derby with fourth-placed Sunderland, have now made six signings in this transfer window.
