Barrister Kamorudeen Ogunlana, has resumed as the new Clerk of the National Assembly (CNA).
He succeeded Sani Magaji Tambuwal who was in 2022 appointed Acting CNA to work with the then outgoing Clerk, Arc. Ojo Olatunde Amos.
Ogunlana`s apointment makes him the Ninth CNA since the country’s return to democracy in 1999.
At the formal handover ceremony which took place on Saturday evening at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, with management staff and other dignitaries in attendance, the outgoing Clerk said, “I formally handover this document on the National Assembly to Kamorudeen Ogunlana.”
While commending his predecessor for his courage and leadership qualities while in office, Ogunlana revealed that he is focused on democratizing decision making during his tenure.
“I intend to democratize decision making. There is no way I will sit down here, because I don’t know it all. I have the legal and the legislative background but I can’t claim to be an expert when it comes to financial issues and that is where he comes in. I’m very happy that even though he’s leaving but it’s not really leaving,” he added.
