Buhari reveals significant health improvement, tasks APC stakeholders

Date:

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has shared an update on his health status, revealing that he has experienced significant improvement since leaving office two years ago.

Speaking at an All Progressives Congress stakeholders’ meeting in Katsina, Buhari noted that visitors have commented on his improved appearance, affirming that he now looks healthier than before.

“My health has improved since leaving office. People who visited me told me I look better than before,” Buhari said during the meeting, which was held in preparation for the upcoming local government elections in Katsina on February 15.

Reflecting on the challenges of governance, Buhari emphasized that those outside of power often don’t fully understand the complexities involved in running a country as vast and diverse as Nigeria.

He also urged current political leaders to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability in managing public resources.

“It is important for leaders to remember that they are accountable to Allah and the people. Transparency is key in managing public funds,” he stated.

The meeting, which also saw the attendance of key political figures, including former governors and National Assembly members, was part of the APC’s efforts to strengthen its political base ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari was raised by his mother following the death of his father when he was about four years old.

He received his early education in Daura and Maidua before attending the Katsina Provincial Secondary School.

Buhari’s educational journey continued at the Government College in Katsina, where he earned his West African School Certificate.

Buhari’s personal life is also marked by his long marriage to Aisha Halilu, with whom he has 10 children, after his first marriage to Safinatu Yusuf ended in 1988.

As Nigeria approaches crucial elections, Buhari’s words on leadership and accountability continue to resonate, offering valuable insights for the country’s political future.
