In a bold move that could shake up the summer transfer market, Turkish giants Galatasaray are reportedly preparing a substantial offer to Napoli to secure the permanent signing of Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, who has been on loan at the club since September.
Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray came after last-minute transfer talks with Chelsea and several Saudi Pro League clubs fell through, leaving the powerful forward in limbo.
What initially appeared to be a temporary solution—an attempt to keep Osimhen’s fitness up and avoid a season spent on the sidelines—has now turned into a highly successful venture for both player and club.
In just nine matches, Osimhen has been nothing short of spectacular, netting eight goals and providing four assists, quickly establishing himself as one of the top performers in the Turkish Süper Lig.
With his form showing no sign of slowing down, Galatasaray has set its sights on making the deal permanent.
According to reports from Turkish outlet Milliyet, the club is preparing to launch a formal bid that could involve both a cash payment and one or more players to lower the overall cost of the operation.
Napoli’s stance on Osimhen remains firm, with the striker’s release clause set at €120million — an amount that would place the deal among the most expensive in Turkish football history.
However, there’s a catch: that release clause will drop to €80m if Napoli fails to agree to a sale by June 2025, which has opened the door for Galatasaray to try and negotiate a deal well before that deadline.
To sweeten the offer, Galatasaray is reportedly willing to include players in the deal, potentially making it more attractive to the Serie A side.
Among the names being touted as part of the package are Davinson Sánchez, who could link up with former Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte at Napoli, as well as Baris Alper Yilmaz and Yunus Akgün — two exciting young talents who could bolster the squad at the Stadio Diego Maradona.
Sánchez, a Colombian center-back, has struggled to find consistent playing time at Galatasaray but could be a valuable asset for Napoli’s defensive needs, especially under the guidance of Conte, who is well acquainted with Sánchez’s abilities from their time together at Tottenham. Meanwhile, Yilmaz and Akgün—both of whom have shown glimpses of their potential in the Turkish league—could add much-needed depth and versatility to Napoli’s attack.
The inclusion of these players, combined with a sizable cash sum, represents Galatasaray’s determination to land Osimhen, whose combination of strength, speed, and clinical finishing has already made him one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.
As negotiations are expected to intensify over the coming months, all eyes will be on how this potential transfer saga unfolds. For now, Osimhen’s future seems set to remain a topic of speculation, but one thing is clear: after a dazzling start to his Turkish adventure, the Nigerian marksman has captured the attention of both Galatasaray and Napoli—and possibly much of Europe.
