Sanwo-Olu mourns victims of Lagos truck accident

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a fatal truck accident that occurred in the Aiyetoro area of Epe, Lagos State, on Monday, November 11, 2024.

In a heartfelt message shared on X.com on Tuesday, Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident that took place in Aiyetoro, Epe, on Monday, 11th November 2024,” the governor wrote.

“Reports suggest that a cement truck experienced brake failure, leading to the devastating loss of lives and injuries to others.”

He continued, “I send my sincere condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching incident.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the departed souls, and I wish a speedy recovery to all those who sustained injuries. May the grieving families find comfort in the love and support of their community, and may the memories of their loved ones offer some solace during this painful time.”

The accident, which is believed to have been caused by a cement truck losing its brakes, claimed at least three lives and left several others injured.

According to reports, the truck, which was descending from Ita-Opo, crashed into a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before plowing into a nearby market.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents and officials expressing their condolences and calling for increased measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
