The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has reiterated the administration’s dedication to fulfilling promises made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to FCT residents. This was highlighted during the commissioning of the Naharati Rivers Ukya Access Road, complete with two-span river bridges, in the Abaji Area Council on Monday, January 20, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Minister Wike emphasized that the project addressed a critical need identified by the Abaji community. “We did consult you,” the Minister noted, referencing discussions with the Council Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, who advocated for the road’s construction. “This is a fulfillment of that request,” Wike added.
The newly commissioned road, initiated in January 2024, was completed within a year, underscoring the government’s commitment to prompt project execution. The Minister also assured residents that additional promises would be fulfilled, including the establishment of two new police divisions in Abaji and infrastructure upgrades at the Abuja University.
“We are determined to ensure no part of the FCT is left behind,” Wike said. “From satellite towns to the city center, we are driving even development across all six area councils. Throughout this week, we will be commissioning projects in each council to further deliver on our promises.”
Residents of Abaji expressed gratitude for the road, which is expected to enhance connectivity and support economic activities in the area.
The event highlighted the administration’s broader focus on community-driven governance, ensuring that projects directly address the needs of FCT residents.
