Chelsea Demand £40M for Chalobah

Date:

Chelsea has placed a £40 million price tag on Trevoh Chalobah after recalling the centre-back from his loan spell at Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old defender, who made 14 appearances for Palace, is now available for first-team action under Blues manager Enzo Maresca.

Chalobah’s return to Stamford Bridge comes after injuries to key players Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile created gaps in Chelsea’s defensive lineup. However, the club is open to selling Chalobah if a suitor meets their £50 million asking price, with Palace reportedly unwilling to meet the figure and cover his £7 million annual wages.

The England international, who developed through Chelsea’s Cobham academy, has enjoyed success in his time with the Blues, particularly under previous managers Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Frank Lampard. Despite his impressive contributions, Chalobah’s game time dwindled under Mauricio Pochettino, leading to his loan move to Palace in the summer.

During his time at Crystal Palace, Chalobah became an important figure, scoring three goals and improving his form. Palace manager Oliver Glasner spoke highly of the defender, praising his professionalism and contributions. “Trevoh had a great time with us. Chelsea is the biggest winner because they get a player who is in much better shape than when he arrived,” Glasner said. He also expressed his gratitude to Chalobah, acknowledging both his footballing abilities and character.

With Chelsea now assessing Chalobah’s future, a potential transfer could be on the horizon if the right offer comes in. As the Blues look to strengthen their squad, the versatile defender could play a pivotal role moving forward, either at Stamford Bridge or elsewhere.

Chelsea’s next match is against Wolves on Monday evening, where Chalobah could make his return to the team.
