Delta Police Arrest 23-Year-Old for Father’s Murder in Sapele

Date:

A 23-year-old man, identified as Success, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly hacking his father to death with a cutlass following a dispute over money in Amukpe community, Sapele Local Government Area.

The tragic incident occurred a few days ago at the family’s home after Success demanded N5,000 from his father, who refused to meet the request. An eyewitness revealed that Success, known for his history of substance abuse and erratic behavior when under the influence, became furious when his father denied him the money.

On the evening of the attack, the argument between father and son escalated, leading to Success grabbing a machete and violently assaulting his father. The elderly man, severely injured, was rushed to a hospital, but he tragically succumbed to his wounds.

A neighbor who spoke anonymously recounted, “Everyone in this area knows Success as a drug addict who always misbehaved whenever he had taken those drugs.” This violent outburst, fueled by the escalating argument, ended in a tragic loss of life.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated, “Success has already been taken into custody” and is currently under investigation. The police have assured that justice will be served following the shocking event.
