Victor Osimhen is expected to return to Galatasaray’s starting lineup for Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig derby against Istanbul Basaksehir at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim stadium in Istanbul, Lapalabras reports.
They face an Istanbul Basaksehir side that is unbeaten at home in the Super Lig, with four wins and four draws in its last eight games.
The match follows a 2-2 draw between the two sides in a Turkish Cup clash last Wednesday, where Galatasaray fought back twice without Osimhen, who was sidelined due to illness.
Osimhen’s return will strengthen Galatasaray’s attack as they aim to maintain their unbeaten run and extend their lead at the top of the Super Lig.
The team is also looking to extend their record-setting away win streak to 17 matches, the longest in the league’s history.
The striker, currently the team’s top scorer in the Super Lig with 10 goals (including four match-opening goals) and 13 in all competitions, has been pivotal to Galatasaray’s success this season.
He is tied for third in goals scored in the league in 2024/2025. His form has been crucial in the club’s pursuit of a 25th league title.
Recent history favors Galatasaray. The team is unbeaten in five of its last six meetings with Basaksehir, winning four.
The visitors have scored at least twice in five of those matches and are on a seven-game streak of scoring two or more goals in competitive matches.
Galatasaray have dominated the Super Lig with 33 wins in their last 36 outings and will look to continue their strong form, having avoided defeat in 10 of their last 11 encounters with Basaksehir.
Galatasaray leads the Turkish league with 47 points from 17 matches.
