Police Arrest Bride, Suspect in Jigawa Wedding Food Poisoning Incident

A wedding celebration in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State turned tragic after the bride allegedly poisoned food served at the reception, leaving the groom critically ill and one guest dead.

The incident, which has shocked the community, reportedly occurred due to a personal vendetta.

Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that two suspects, including the bride and another female, have been arrested. “The suspects are in custody and being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department,” Adam said.

The poisoned food reportedly affected several wedding guests. While most have been discharged from the hospital, one guest tragically succumbed to the poisoning.

“We are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” the police spokesperson assured. He added that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and more details will be provided as they emerge.

Police have withheld the identities of the deceased, the groom, and other victims. The incident has sparked outrage and sadness in the community, with many calling for swift justice.
