Bala Approves N467bn Budget for 2025, Appoints Aminu Hammayo as New SSG

Date:

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, totaling N467 billion, into law. The signing ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House on Friday, marking a significant step toward the state’s development goals for the coming year.

The budget, initially proposed at N465 billion on November 21, 2024, was increased by N2 billion by the State House of Assembly. Presenting the revised budget, tagged the “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainable Development,” Speaker Hon. Suleiman Abubakar highlighted the adjustments made to address critical areas of development and meet the needs of the people.

“We gave our word to the governor and the good people of Bauchi State that we would pass the 2025 budget before the year runs out,” Abubakar said. “The House, through its various committees, painstakingly reviewed the proposal to ensure allocations align with the demands of the state.”

In addition to the budget presentation, Abubakar also introduced the Bauchi State Water and Industrial System Law. This new legislation aims to improve access to clean water and promote community involvement in water resource management while fostering transparency and sustainable development across the state.

Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to the State Assembly for their diligent work on the budget and explained that the additional N2 billion would enhance service delivery and address pressing needs.

“We are committed to ensuring this budget translates into tangible benefits for the people of Bauchi State,” the governor stated.

In a related development, Governor Mohammed announced the appointment of Alhaji Aminu Hammayo as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), following the resignation of Mr. Ibrahim Kashim on December 13. Hammayo, a seasoned administrator, has served the state in various capacities and was praised for his dedication and expertise.

Additionally, the governor appointed Alhaji Hashimu Kumbala as his Principal Private Secretary. A retired permanent secretary, Kumbala previously served as the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Services.

These strategic appointments are expected to bolster the governor’s administration as it seeks to implement the newly signed budget and deliver on its promises of sustainable development and improved governance.
