President Bola Tinubu has tasked security agencies with eliminating all forms of insecurity in Nigeria by 2025, according to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
Addressing a gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday, Matawalle assured that the government is resolute in equipping security operatives to achieve this goal.
“We are providing all necessary resources for our security forces to tackle insecurity without delay,” the minister said. He revealed that advanced security equipment has already been procured, with some deployed in Sokoto State.
Matawalle emphasized the importance of community involvement in combating crime. “We encourage communities to expose informants hiding in the bush or living among them. Intelligence is crucial to apprehending bandits and their collaborators,” he stated.
During his week-long visit to Zamfara, Matawalle plans to assess the security situation in several communities and devise further strategies.
The minister also praised President Tinubu for infrastructure projects like the construction of the Zaria to Sokoto dual carriageway. He noted that the road would bolster security, improve transportation, and stimulate economic activities in the region.
In his remarks, Matawalle urged citizens to pray for the president’s success and to support the government’s efforts by boldly reporting criminal activities.
The administration’s commitment to ending insecurity aligns with Tinubu’s broader agenda to ensure stability and foster economic growth nationwide.
