Amorim Confirms Extended Layoff for Mason Mount

Date:

Mason Mount’s injury-plagued season at Manchester United has taken another hit, with manager Ruben Amorim confirming the midfielder will miss “several weeks” following an early exit during last week’s victorious Manchester derby.

The England international, who joined United from Chelsea in July 2023, has endured a challenging tenure at Old Trafford, struggling with form and recurring injuries. Since his arrival, the 25-year-old has made just 32 appearances, scoring a single goal and starting only nine Premier League games.

Amorim acknowledged the setback but emphasized his commitment to supporting Mount during recovery. “We’ll use this time for him to adapt and think about different aspects of the game. It’s a long road back, but he’ll return stronger,” the manager said.

Mount’s absence adds to United’s challenges in an already demanding schedule, limiting opportunities for full-team training. Despite these hurdles, Amorim remains optimistic about the team’s progress under his leadership, noting improved dynamics and physical performance.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is set to return for Sunday’s clash against Bournemouth, dispelling speculation about disciplinary issues. Rashford, recently hinting at seeking a “new challenge,” missed the derby and Thursday’s League Cup loss to Tottenham but has been declared fit to play.

United, currently 13th in the Premier League standings, are striving to find consistency under Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag last month. Despite their position, the manager sees promising signs. “We’re pressing better, creating more threats, and understanding the game as a unit. Progress is happening,” Amorim added.

With Mount sidelined and the season intensifying, United will need to rely on their depth and resilience to climb the table. Fans will hope for Mount’s swift recovery and a strong team resurgence.
