Anambra Police Foil MTN Mast Vandalism, Hunt Fugitives

Date:

Police operatives from the Igbo-Ukwu Divisional Headquarters in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have recovered a white Peugeot J5 Boxer bus (registration number: AKL 896 XB) loaded with vandalized MTN electrical equipment.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, listing the recovered items as a Lister electricity generator, roller, pipes, iron bar, a large plier, screwdriver, metal cutter, and a pair of black canvas.

The incident occurred on Saturday, December 7, 2024, when the vandals were caught dismantling a Lister Model Electricity Generator attached to an MTN mast opposite Saint Martin’s Catholic Church in Umudege, Igbo-Ukwu. Upon sighting the police, the suspects abandoned the bus and fled the scene.

SP Ikenga stated that efforts are underway to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects. He urged residents of the area to assist the police by providing any useful information that could lead to their arrest.

“The Anambra State Police Command appeals to the public, particularly residents of the area, to share relevant information that can help bring the culprits to justice,” Ikenga said.

The recovered items have been secured as investigations continue into the case of economic sabotage and theft.
