79 Nigerians on America’s ‘Worst-of-the-Worst’ List Face Deportation

Date:

In a sweeping new crackdown, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that 79 Nigerian nationals convicted of serious crimes in the United States are now on a fast track to deportation.

According to the DHS, these men and women branded on the agency’s “worst-of-the-worst” criminal list were found guilty of offences ranging from fraud and drug peddling to assault, robbery and manslaughter.

In a statement posted on the department’s website, officials said bluntly: “Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst…”

The published list names Nigerians such as Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, and Oluwole Odunowo, among dozens of others slated for removal from the U.S. back to Nigeria.

This development is part of an intensified enforcement campaign by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that has reportedly stirred alarm within immigrant communities. Some Nigerians in the United States have reportedly gone into hiding, while others are said to be returning home quietly as the deportations intensify.

The DHS crackdown reflects a broader emphasis on deporting non-citizens with criminal records — a stance aligned with President Trump’s hardline immigration agenda.
