The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has rewritten the digital playbook, smashing records with over 6.1 billion digital impressions and 5.2 billion video views across social media platforms, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF)
The staggering numbers represent a dramatic leap from AFCON 2023, which generated about 2.1 billion digital views, underlining the tournament’s explosive global appeal and Africa’s growing footprint in the digital sports arena.
CAF hailed the achievement as unprecedented, describing AFCON 2025 as the most-viewed continental football competition, fuelled largely by passionate fans and the African diaspora.
Beyond the pitch, fan-driven content, viral moments, behind-the-scenes clips and cultural expressions powered the tournament’s online momentum, with TikTok emerging as a major hub of engagement and creativity.
Hosted by Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the tournament crowned Senegal champions, with hosts Morocco finishing second and Nigeria third — a fitting climax to a competition that dominated both football and the digital world.
