Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey have been named in the official Team of the Tournament for the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, as announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Super Eagles trio stood out as Nigeria secured third place at the tournament — their ninth bronze finish in AFCON history.
Nigerian Stars in the Best XI
- Victor Osimhen – The talismanic striker scored four goals and provided two assists, showcasing his attacking prowess throughout the competition.
- Ademola Lookman – The Atalanta forward led the tournament in goal contributions, with four goals and three assists, earning a spot among Africa’s best for the second consecutive edition.
- Calvin Bassey – The standout defender marshalled Nigeria’s backline with authority, helping the team keep clean sheets deep into the knockout rounds.

The CAF Best XI also features several outstanding performers from the finalists:
- Sadio Mané – Named Player of the Tournament.

The 2025 AFCON title was clinched by Senegal, who defeated hosts Morocco 1–0 in extra time in the final.
