Police Caught In U-Turn; Confirms Mass Kidnapping in Kaduna After Days of Denial

Date:

In a dramatic reversal that has shocked Nigerians, the Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed an abduction incident in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after initially disputing and downplaying reports of the attack.

According to the police, days of uncertainty and conflicting statements sparked fear and anxiety among residents — but subsequent verification by operational units and intelligence sources proved that the abduction did indeed take place.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said initial comments by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police were misunderstood and intended to prevent public panic while the situation was being verified.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has now ordered the full deployment of tactical and intelligence units to the area, with intensified patrols and targeted search-and-rescue operations underway to find and safely recover the victims.

Church leaders and community sources have alleged that scores of worshippers were abducted, adding urgency and pressure on security agencies to resolve the crisis.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria, especially in remote communities facing frequent attacks by armed gangs.
