The Millennial Cup 2025 concluded in grand style on Sunday as Sahco FC emerged champions after defeating Reggae Boyz FC 2-1 in a thrilling final.
Tobi Olufehinti was the hero of the day, scoring both goals for Sahco FC, while Michael Young netted the lone goal for Reggae Boyz FC in the tightly contested encounter.
Speaking after the match, Ndubuisi Patrick, President of Reggae Boyz Football Club, expressed delight over the tournament’s success, describing it as “transparent and highly competitive.” He also encouraged more clubs and corporate bodies to participate in future editions, revealing that several clubs had already made inquiries about joining.
Sahco FC’s captain, Obafemi Adeyemi, celebrated the hard-fought victory, describing Reggae Boyz FC as “the toughest team in the tournament” and noting that this was Sahco’s first appearance in the competition.
On his part, Reggae Boyz FC captain, Ubong John, expressed disappointment over the defeat but acknowledged that “a winner has to emerge.”
In recognition of his unwavering support for grassroots football, Chief Olufemi Ajeniyi was honoured with a Life Patron Award during the closing ceremony. He pledged to “do even more” for the tournament in the years ahead.
The champions, Sahco FC, walked away with a cash prize of ₦400,000, marking a memorable conclusion to the second edition of the Millennial Cup.
