AFN North West Zonal Rep. Election Marred With Irregularities, Inconclusive

The North West Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) yesterday was married with irregularities as 8 delegates voted in the election as against 7 delegates.

The election which took place at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna had three candidates for the zonal representative position.

Sunday Adeleye, Sani Shehu Abass both from Kaduna State and Ladan ABUBAKAR Zurmi from Zamfara State.

Addressing Journalists shortly after the election, Mr Adeleye and Abass said, they will not agree with the purported outcome.of the election stressing that 8 delegates should not have voted in the election in the first instance.

They both alleged that the election umpires were compromised,stressing that one of the umpire Bashir was repeatedly called by the incumbent President Tony Okowa.

According to competent sources, the umpires were asked to do whatever it takes to ensure that one Mr Sunday Adeleye does not emerge as zonal Representative for the North West as he is also aiming at contesting for the President of the AFN if he emerges .

Other observers and agents of the candidates who spoke to Journalists confirmed that the election was not concluded as no winner was declared.

It was also observed that the ballot paper was snatched away hence it could not b authenticated who won the election.

Our reporter who witnessed the.election said, no certificate was issued to any winner as there was none declared as winner.

As at the time of filing this report, the election umpires disappeared to an unknown destination without saying a word to the journalists.
