The Progressive Youths for National Stability (PYNS) has declared support for the proposal to grant automatic return tickets to high-performing federal lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a strategic move that will bolster President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and promote political stability.
In a statement released Monday and signed by its President, Comrade Aminu Mustapha Bako, the group said the initiative aligns with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda and will deepen legislative-executive synergy already being achieved under the Tinubu administration.
“This isn’t about entrenching individuals; it’s about entrenching progress,” the statement read. “Lawmakers who have become engines of reform and partners in delivering critical legislation deserve the chance to complete their work.”
Bako noted that high legislative turnover undermines policy continuity and effective governance, arguing that experienced lawmakers offer a stabilising effect that enables the executive to focus on delivery rather than constant rebuilding.
He warned that internal sabotage within the party could destabilise Tinubu’s legislative support base, revealing that some anti-Tinubu elements are attempting to woo lawmakers in preparation for the 2027 elections.
“These are not alliances built on national interest. They’re built on opportunism. But many lawmakers remain committed to President Tinubu because of mutual respect and a shared vision,” Bako added.
He stated that the lawmakers’ loyalty is rooted in consistent engagement and trust, not coercion, describing them as “development partners” who are instrumental to the administration’s reform agenda.
Addressing growing dissent from within the APC, particularly from some governors, Bako singled out Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia as a known critic of the automatic ticket policy, urging reconciliation rather than division.
“This is the time to unify behind a President who has shown extraordinary courage in leading difficult reforms. Consensus, not conflict, must define the party’s approach moving forward,” Bako advised.
PYNS urged the APC National Working Committee to prioritise performance-based continuity, stressing that automatic return tickets tied to competence are not political favours but a necessity for good governance and electoral success.
“We must stop treating experience as expendable,” the group declared. “Automatic return tickets for those who have earned it is not a shortcut but a strategic path to a stronger, more stable, and more successful 2027.”
