Fernandes Faces Deadline as Al Hilal Offers £700,000-a-Week Move

Date:

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been given just days to decide whether he will accept a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal this summer, as the club looks to rebuild following a disappointing season.

Al Hilal are reportedly ready to offer Fernandes a staggering £700,000 per week and a transfer fee of around £100 million to secure his services. The Saudi club wants a clear answer by the end of May as they plan to bolster their squad ahead of the Club World Cup.

Fernandes, 30, recently stated he would not stand in the way if Manchester United decide to sell him, especially after the club’s heartbreak in the Europa League final. This openness has heightened interest from Al Hilal, who view the Portuguese midfielder as a marquee signing.

Despite Fernandes being United’s standout performer this season, the club faces financial constraints following their failure to qualify for European football next term. This has forced the Red Devils to consider offloading several high-profile players to balance the books.

Among those also likely to leave are Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, all currently out on loan. Additionally, young winger Alejandro Garnacho is seeking discussions about his future after an inconsistent end to the season. Garnacho’s homegrown status makes him a valuable asset, and clubs like Napoli and Chelsea have shown interest in the 20-year-old Argentine.

The club is undergoing wider changes, with reports confirming that 150 to 200 football staff members are being made redundant as part of cost-cutting measures announced earlier this year.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Manchester United faces a crucial period of rebuilding, with big decisions needed to chart a path back to the top of English and European football. Fernandes’ imminent decision on his future could signal the start of a major reshuffle at Old Trafford.
