Senate confirms Oluyede as Chief of Army Staff

Date:

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the substantive Chief of Army Staff.

The confirmation came after the adoption of the Senate Committee on Army’s report on his screening during the plenary session on Tuesday, December 3.

The report, presented by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’adua (APC-Katsina), highlighted the nominee’s impressive credentials, which showcased his understanding, achievements, and excellence.

Lt.-Gen. Oluyede had been serving as the acting Chief of Army Staff following the illness and eventual death of the former Chief, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

This confirmation solidifies Lt.-Gen. Oluyede’s position as the permanent leader of the Nigerian Army.
