No Tension in Anambra Ahead of Tinubu’s Visit, APGA Declares

Date:

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dismissed reports of political tension in Anambra State ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit on May 8, calling the claims baseless and misleading.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Chinedu Obigwe, National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, described the reports as “a calculated attempt to create unnecessary panic” and said they were sponsored by political opponents aiming to stir controversy.

“There is no tension in Anambra. The state is peaceful and calm like ice water,” Obigwe stated. “President Tinubu is visiting to commission legacy projects executed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and the people are fully prepared to welcome him.”

Recent media claims had suggested that Tinubu’s upcoming visit could spark a clash of interests between APGA and the All Progressives Congress (APC), both of which have active political bases in the state.

Obigwe, however, refuted such narratives, blaming “a pay-as-you-go writer” for fabricating the story to justify funds allegedly received from APC elements attempting to sow discord. He emphasized that Tinubu’s visit is a non-partisan event aimed at celebrating developmental strides under Governor Soludo’s leadership.

“Everything must not be politicised,” Obigwe said. “The President’s visit is a gesture that will serve as encouragement to other performing governors. Soludo’s achievements in just over three years surpass those of previous administrations since the state’s creation.”

He further asserted that the people of Anambra are united in their support for Soludo and are in a celebratory mood, expressing optimism about the governor’s chances for a second term.

“As of today, the words on the lips of Anambra electorates are, ‘one good turn deserves another.’ That’s a clear endorsement of Governor Soludo,” Obigwe concluded.

President Tinubu is expected to commission key infrastructure projects during his visit, underscoring federal recognition of Anambra’s development efforts.
