Former Obi Campaign Manager, Oseloka Obaze, Quits Labour Party Over Internal Disputes

Date:

Oseloka Obaze, the former Secretary to the Anambra State Government and campaign manager for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential bid, has resigned from the Labour Party (LP). Obaze’s decision comes in the wake of unresolved leadership issues within the party, which he claims have hindered its progress and caused significant internal instability.

In a letter addressed to the LP Chairman of Ochuche Ward 406 in Ogbaru Local Government, Obaze pointed to unresolved leadership concerns at the national level of the party. His resignation is also linked to the conduct of the party’s April 5, 2025, governorship primary in Anambra, which he described as “fraught with irregularities.” This move is expected to exacerbate the ongoing crisis within the party in Anambra, a state where Obaze has been a central figure in local politics.

Obaze, a seasoned diplomat, played a crucial role in Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, significantly contributing to the momentum of the ‘Obidient movement.’ His departure from the Labour Party has raised new questions about the party’s future prospects in the state and its ability to navigate the political landscape.

His resignation adds to the growing list of challenges facing the LP, as it struggles to maintain unity and coherence in the face of leadership disputes and electoral controversies.

As the party reels from the exit of key figures like Obaze, political observers will be watching closely to see what this means for the party’s influence in Anambra and across the country in the coming months.
