Victor Osimhen continued his sensational debut season in Turkey with a match-winning performance scoring twice in Galatasaray’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Sivasspor in Matchday 34 of the Turkish Super Lig.
Roared on by a passionate crowd at RAMS Park, the Super Lig leaders delivered a blistering first-half display, putting the game out of reach before the break.
The result extended Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the table to eight points over fierce rivals Fenerbahçe, albeit with one more game played, as the club inches closer to a historic 25th league title—and the coveted “fifth star” on their badge.
Midfielder Lucas Torreira opened the scoring in the 9th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound after a driving run and cross by Eren Elmali.
Just six minutes later, Osimhen slotted home his first of the night, finishing a flowing move involving Álvaro Morata and Elmali.
Baris Alper Yilmaz added Galatasaray’s third in the 21st minute, before Osimhen struck again in the 31st minute, calmly converting from a set-piece sequence engineered by Roland Sallai.
Sivasspor responded two minutes later with a goal from Rey Manaj, but it was little more than a consolation on a night dominated by Galatasaray’s firepower.
Osimhen’s brace took his tally to 33 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances this season—his best-ever personal total, surpassing the 31 goals he netted during Napoli’s Serie A title-winning campaign two seasons ago.
Speaking after the match, the 26-year-old Nigeria international reflected on his record-breaking achievement and the connection he has developed with the Galatasaray faithful.
“It was important to break my record in my first season. I’m in one of the biggest clubs in the world—definitely the biggest in Turkey,” Osimhen said.
“There’s a memory I’ll remember for the rest of my life this season. I want to help the team however I can, not just with goals but by contributing all over the pitch.”
He also spoke about the overwhelming support he has received from fans since arriving in Istanbul.
“From the moment I arrived, the love has been overwhelming. The kids screaming at the tunnel, the passion—it inspires me. I’m here to make them proud.”
Galatasaray will look to maintain their momentum in the title race as they prepare for a challenging away trip to Trabzonspor.
Meanwhile, Sivasspor continue their battle against relegation, with a crucial home fixture against Bodrum FK up next.
