Fenerbahçe Lead Race to Sign Wilfred Ndidi

Date:

Fenerbahçe have emerged as front-runners to sign Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Ndidi’s future at Leicester looks increasingly uncertain following the club’s relegation to the Championship, and interest in the Super Eagles star has intensified as the summer approaches.

Turkish outlet Africa Foot reports that the Yellow Canaries are currently leading the chase, with the 28-year-old reportedly eager to remain in top-flight football next season.

Since joining Leicester from Belgian side Genk in 2017, Ndidi has built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most consistent defensive midfielders.

However, with Leicester set to spend a second consecutive season outside the top division, the Nigerian international is believed to be seeking a new challenge.

Fenerbahçe, currently pushing for the Turkish Super Lig title, see Ndidi as a key addition to their midfield.

They are not alone in their pursuit, however—Premier League clubs Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Everton are all reportedly monitoring the situation, as is Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ahli.

Ndidi is under contract with Leicester until 2027, but sources suggest a relegation release clause allows him to leave for a fee of around €9m.

While no official bid has been confirmed, a summer exit appears increasingly likely.

With top-flight football a priority for Ndidi, Turkey currently appears to be his most probable destination.
