Army Releases Fisayo Soyombo After Controversial Arrest

The Nigerian Army has released investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo, who was arrested during a raid on an illegal bunkering site by troops. This development was confirmed by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Soyombo had been released following a significant media campaign.

The post read, “We can confirm that our founder @fisayosoyombo has now been released by @HQNigerianArmy, following the intense media campaign you all mounted.”

Earlier, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations, addressed rumors circulating on social media regarding the journalist’s detention in Port Harcourt, though further details were not provided at the time.
