FG Declares April 18, 21 Public Holidays for Easter Celebrations

Date:

The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations across the country.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Tuesday on behalf of the government. The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians nationwide on the Easter occasion, urging them to reflect on the significance of the season and emulate the virtues of sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ.

“As we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us imbibe the values of sacrifice, love, and unity. His death reminds us of the power of selflessness for the greater good,” he stated.

The Minister also called on Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for continued peace, unity, and stability in the country, stressing that national development could only thrive in a secure and harmonious environment.

Reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, Tunji-Ojo assured citizens that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains dedicated to fostering inclusive growth and prosperity across the nation.

He further encouraged citizens to show love and compassion to one another during the festive season through acts of kindness and generosity.

The Minister wished Christians a joyous and peaceful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
