Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the disbursement of N200 million for the payment of outstanding gratuities to retired civil servants in the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti by the Permanent Secretary of the Pension Transition Arrangement Department (PTAD), Mr. Francis Omotoso, who said the funds would cover gratuity payments for state pensioners up to July 2015.
“This approval marks another significant step by the Oyebanji administration to clear the backlog of unpaid entitlements inherited from previous governments,” Omotoso stated.
He added that the payment aligns with the administration’s agenda of continuity and shared prosperity, while also reaffirming the governor’s commitment to the welfare of retirees in the state.
Omotoso urged all affected pensioners to report to the PTAD Office at the Old Governor’s Office for documentation ahead of cheque disbursement.
Since assuming office, Governor Oyebanji’s administration has paid over N7.2 billion in gratuities to retired state workers over the last 30 months, demonstrating a consistent effort to address the financial needs of the elderly population.
