Galatasaray VP wants Osimhen stay amid Juve, Barca links

Date:

Galatasaray Vice President, Ibrahim Hatipoglu, has expressed optimism about the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at the Turkish club from Napoli.

Despite transfer rumors linking Osimhen to European giants Juventus and Barcelona, Hatipoglu said the forward’s recent comments were not a confirmation of his departure.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Hatipoglu said, “His (Osimhen) words do not mean that he will leave. He just said that even if he does, in the worst-case scenario, Galatasaray will remain in his heart.

“He (Osimhen) did not tell us that he will leave, and we want him to stay here.”

Osimhen, who has a €75m release clause in his contract with Napoli that becomes active this summer, has attracted significant interest from top European clubs in recent weeks.

Over the weekend, the Super Eagles star addressed speculation about his future: “There are always rumors about me, but I live in the moment. Now I’m enjoying all this. The fans have supported me incredibly.

“Not only me, but also my teammates and my family. The best decision for everyone will be made. But Galatasaray will always remain in my heart.”

Osimhen’s form has been vital for Galatasaray this season, and the club is reportedly keen on retaining his services beyond the current campaign, despite the stiff competition they may face in the transfer market

The Galatasaray forward found the net against Samsunspor last Friday his 29th of the season (21 goals in 24 Super Lig appearances), continuing his impressive scoring run that now sees him ahead of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy (13 goals).

Only PSG’s Ousmane Dembele (24 goals) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe (19 goals) have scored more goals than the Nigerian striker in 2025.

Galatasaray maintain their three-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table following their recent derby defeat to Besiktas.
