Soludo Clinches APGA Ticket for Anambra 2025 Guber Race

Date:

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has officially emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the upcoming November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.

The declaration came on Saturday during the APGA primary held at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, where Soludo was the sole aspirant. The Returning Officer, Uche Nwegbo, announced that out of 3,260 delegates, 3,175 were accredited and 3,172 votes were cast, with only four deemed invalid. Soludo secured 3,168 “yes” votes, confirming his nomination without a single dissenting vote.

“By the powers conferred on me, I hereby declare Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the candidate of our party,” Nwegbo declared.

In his acceptance speech, Soludo expressed gratitude to party members and supporters, pledging to continue delivering impactful governance.

“Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra. I am humbled by this historic display of solidarity. I accept this nomination wholeheartedly,” he said.

Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, highlighted APGA’s tradition of progressive leadership and reaffirmed his administration’s achievements without external borrowing.

“We’re doing this without borrowing one Naira. We’ve only just begun — Anambra has not seen anything yet,” he stated, touting infrastructural strides made under his leadership.

The governor also praised the smooth and peaceful conduct of the primary election, thanking INEC observers, support groups, and party delegates for their participation.

Revealing that Dr. Onyeka Ibezim will continue as his running mate, Soludo said: “If it’s not broken, why mend it?”

With growing confidence, he forecast a clean sweep in the general election: “We will win all 21 local governments, the 326 wards, and maybe even all the polling units. We want to make a statement.”

The APGA primary marks a significant step in the buildup to what is expected to be a fiercely contested governorship election in Anambra State.
