Air Commodore Ejodame Takes Over as NAF Spokesman, Calls for Media Support

Date:

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the appointment of Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame as its new spokesperson. The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, approved the appointment, which sees Ejodame taking over from Air Vice Marshal Olusola, who served in the role since October 2024.

Ejodame, a distinguished officer, is a member of the 45th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Transport and Logistics, and a PhD in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Throughout his career, Ejodame has held various significant positions within the NAF, including serving as a Directing Staff at both the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the National Defence College in Abuja. He was also the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, and served as the Director of Procurement at the same institution.

Notably, Ejodame has extensive diplomatic experience, having served as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser at the Nigeria High Commission in Malaysia, where he was concurrently accredited to nine other countries, strengthening Nigeria’s defense ties across the region.

At a brief ceremony at the NAF headquarters, Ejodame thanked the Chief of Air Staff for the opportunity and expressed his commitment to delivering his best in the role. He called for the support of the media, pledging to maintain an open-door policy and work collaboratively to achieve impactful results.

“I solicit your support to work together, and by the grace of God, we will definitely come up with some impactful works,” Ejodame stated.

The outgoing spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Akinboyewa, also expressed gratitude to the CAS for the opportunity to serve as NAF’s spokesman. Reflecting on his tenure, he highlighted the success of the NAF’s strategic communication approach, which was guided by the CAS’s command philosophy to transform the force into an agile and resilient entity that meets national security demands across all operational environments.

Akinboyewa also thanked the press for their role in bringing the efforts of the NAF to the public’s attention and expressed his anticipation for continued collaboration in his new position as Director of Civil Relations at the Defence Headquarters.

The NAF’s leadership change underscores the continued commitment to enhancing the force’s communication strategies in the pursuit of national security objectives.
