In a significant move ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention scheduled for March 27–28, 2026, the ruling party has replaced Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma with former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari as Chairman of the APC National Convention Central Coordination Committee, the party announced in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru and shared on its official X page on Friday.
“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention has been reconstituted,” the statement said, adding, “Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course.”
Uzodimma, who was earlier named chairman of the committee, has now been reassigned as Treasurer following the reorganisation approved by the party leadership, while the APC expanded the committee’s membership from 73 to 90 to bring in additional chieftains such as Senator Barry Mpigi and other senior party figures.
Under the revised committee structure, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was named Vice Chairman I, Kwara State Governor and Nigeria Governors’ Forum Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will serve as Vice Chairman II, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni retains his role as Secretary.
The changes come as the APC intensifies preparations for its convention, where the party will elect new members of its National Working Committee, marking a pivotal moment in its internal leadership reshuffle ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.
