The Nigerian military has been handed a major boost in their fight against terrorism following the reported elimination of a top Boko Haram commander during sustained clearance operations in the North-East.

One of the insurgents neutralised, according to the report, was Abu Khalid, allegedly, the second-in-command of the terrorist group operating within the Sambisa Forest.

It was reported that Abu Khalid was a key figure in Boko Haram’s command and control structure, and his death represents a major setback to terrorist activities in the notorious forest enclave.

The slain commander is believed to have played a critical role in coordinating attacks, managing logistics, and directing the movement of fighters across parts of the North-East, making his neutralisation a significant boost to ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

La Palabras reports that the federal government has stepped up in its fight against terrorism and banditry across the country following reports of major gains.
