Striking staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have insisted their industrial action will continue, telling the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that they will not yield until their demands are met.
The workers, organised under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), spoke shortly after the National Industrial Court delivered a ruling related to the dispute. A senior union official said the judgement issued on Tuesday “would be appealed today”.
Their statement came in the wake of warnings from Mr Wike, who has demanded that the workers resume duties or face sanctions.
The strike, which began last week, has ground official activities in the FCT to a halt, affecting operations across secretariats, departments, agencies, area councils, and parastatals.
Union leaders argue that prolonged unresolved welfare issues — including unpaid entitlements, promotion arrears, and poor working conditions — have left them with little choice but to continue their action.
Officials for the FCTA and the minister’s office have not yet responded to the union’s announcement of an appeal.
