Sanwo-Olu Signs ₦4.4 Trillion 2026 Lagos State Budget into Law

Date:

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially signed the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, marking a key milestone for the state’s fiscal calendar.

The Governor affixed his signature to the budget on Monday at the Conference Room, Lagos House, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, following its approval by the Lagos State House of Assembly earlier this month.

The 2026 budget — officially titled the “Budget of Shared Prosperity” — authorises total expenditures of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the upcoming fiscal year.

Present at the signing ceremony were Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, members of the state cabinet, the Head of Service Bode Agoro, legislators, and other senior officials.

When he presented the budget to lawmakers in November 2025, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the financial plan was designed to promote broad-based growth and opportunity across Lagos. He highlighted that the state’s strategic priorities rest on four pillars: a human-centred development approach, world-class infrastructure, a robust economy, and effective governance — all aligned with the government’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.

“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all,” the Governor said, stressing that the initiatives embedded in the budget are meant to turn the vision of shared prosperity into tangible results for residents.
