Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed on Thursday presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, pegged at N878.1 billion, to the State House of Assembly during a special session at the International Conference Centre, Bauchi.
Tagged the “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability,” the governor said the proposal underscores his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, long-term planning, and strategic investments in sectors critical to the state’s development.
“The budget consolidates ongoing reforms while responding to emerging economic realities at both state and national levels,” Mohammed said. “It is a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable growth, social inclusion, and the development of resilient infrastructure across Bauchi State.”
The governor highlighted major allocations to education, healthcare, agriculture, rural roads, water supply, and youth empowerment, describing them as fundamental to improving livelihoods and expanding opportunities. He also pledged to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones that would boost productivity, create jobs, and strengthen local economies.
The Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, Amina Katagum, disclosed that the 2025 budget performance stood at 79.1 per cent as of September. She provided a breakdown of the 2026 proposed budget, including:

Recurrent Revenue: N450.67bn (Statutory Allocation: N89.36bn; VAT: N100bn; Internal Revenue: N64.61bn; Other FAAC Revenue: N196.70bn)

Sectoral allocations include Administration: N120bn (13.7%), Economic Sector: N435.52bn (49.6%), Law & Justice: N12.20bn (1.4%), and Social Sector: N310.43bn (35.4%), with Education receiving N131.71bn (15.0%) and Health N132.01bn (15.03%).
Governor Mohammed expressed appreciation to lawmakers for their positive reception and pledged a timely legislative review. The 2026 budget now awaits scrutiny and passage by the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
