The Imodi-Ijebu Muslim community in Ogun State on Friday conferred distinguished Islamic titles on notable sons and daughters, including former National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Director, Alhaji Ishaq Sanni, and Alhaji Tajudeen Adegboyega Adebanjo, Senior Correspondent with The Nation newspaper.

At the colourful ceremony held during the special Jumat service at the Imodi-Ijebu Central Mosque, Alhaji Sanni was inaugurated as the Aare Adinni of the community, while Alhaji Adebanjo, who also serves as the National Secretary-General of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA), was officially presented as the Giwa Adinni.

Other prominent community members were also honoured with Islamic titles, including Alhaja Hafsat Gbadamosi (Otun Iya Sunnah), Chief Ibraheem Ekiyemi (Otun Arowasadinni), Chief Araazim Ambali (Akeweje Adinni), Alhaji Abdul Wakeel Akorede Baoku (Alatunse Adeen), Alhaja Sherifat Epenuse (Iyalode Adinni), Alhaja Risikat Arowolo (Alawofin) (Otun Asiwaju Adinni Obirin), and Chief Abdul Mojeed Agbaje (Otun Mogaji Adinni).

The event was presided over by the Grand Chief Imam of Imodi-Ijebu, Sheikh Muhammad Moshood Titilope, who led the two-rakat congregational prayer and offered special supplications for the new chiefs, asking Allah to guide them in their service to the faith and community.

Delivering the Friday sermon, the Eketa Adinni of Imodi-Ijebu, Alhaji Ahmad Ajijolamimo, charged the honourees to uphold righteousness, humility, and sacrifice in discharging their new responsibilities. He cautioned them to lead by example through piety and devotion, saying, “Religious leadership is a trust from Allah. It requires commitment, humility, and consistent good deeds.”

The Baba Adinni of Imodi-Ijebu, Alhaji AbdulFatah Olumide Olufowobi, also reminded the new title holders that leadership in Islam is a sacred trust that comes with accountability before Allah. He urged them to promote unity, Islamic values, and community development.

In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Adebanjo expressed gratitude to Allah and the Muslim community for the honour, describing his title as a “sacred trust and call to service.” He pledged to uphold Islamic teachings and work for peace, unity, and progress in Imodi-Ijebu.

“This is not just a personal honour but a responsibility in the path of Islam. I pray for wisdom, patience, and sincerity to discharge my duties with fairness and humility,” he said.

Similarly, Alhaji Ishaq Sanni, the newly installed Aare Adinni, thanked Allah and the community for the recognition, promising to strengthen unity among Muslims and contribute to the spiritual and social development of the town.

The well-attended ceremony drew community leaders, clerics, families, and well-wishers from within and outside Ogun State. According to organisers, the official turbanning of the newly appointed chiefs will hold at a later date to be announced by the Imodi-Ijebu Muslim Community.
