The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of the House on the Rock Church, is being interrogated over a viral video in which he was seen holding what appeared to be a gun-like object during a roadside altercation.

The incident, which sparked widespread debate on social media, showed Adefarasin inside an unregistered vehicle, holding a metallic object while interacting with a road user who appeared to be recording the exchange.

Confirming the development via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the Lagos Police stated:
“No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case.”

The statement added that the probe followed the circulation of a video showing the popular pastor allegedly brandishing a firearm during the roadside incident.

Police authorities have promised to make the outcome of the investigation public once completed.

In response to the allegations, Pastor Adefarasin posted a statement on his verified social media platforms, denying any wrongdoing. He described the incident as a “misunderstanding” and clarified that the object seen in the video was not a firearm and was never aimed at anyone.

The footage has attracted intense scrutiny online, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into what some perceived as a display of threatening behavior by a public figure.

The Lagos Police reiterated their commitment to the rule of law, urging the public to allow the investigation to run its full course without speculation or misinformation.
