Biola Adebayo Ends Marriage, Says Son Remains Top Priority

Date:

Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has publicly confirmed her separation from her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde, revealing that the pair have been apart since April 2024 and are now committed to peacefully co-parenting their son.

In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, Adebayo broke her silence on the status of her marriage while celebrating Akinrinde’s birthday. “Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy… Yes, you heard me right!” she wrote. “My husband and I have been separated since April last year.”

The actress, known for her roles in Yoruba-language films, expressed deep gratitude for the father of her child, adding heartfelt prayers for his well-being and peace. Despite the separation, she emphasized that their shared commitment to their son remains unwavering.

Adebayo also addressed her fans and followers, offering a candid glimpse into the emotional toll the past year has taken on her. “To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry. I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story,” she wrote, asking for prayers and understanding.

She described a difficult period marked by private grief, writing, “While I go about making other people happy during the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months.” She credited her faith in Christ for helping her endure the emotional storm.

The announcement drew an outpouring of support from fans, celebrities, and colleagues across social media. Fellow Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu commented, “Biola… it’s well,” echoing the sentiments of many who praised Adebayo’s maturity and transparency.

Messages of encouragement and solidarity flooded her comment section, with many commending her for handling a personal challenge with grace and strength.

Biola Adebayo and Oluwaseyi Akinrinde tied the knot in April 2021, following a brief courtship of less than six months. The actress previously explained that their connection was swift and decisive. “We got married in less than six months after we started dating because I knew what I wanted,” she said during a 2023 YouTube interview.

In April 2023, the couple welcomed their son via a surrogate mother, a moment Adebayo described as a major milestone in their journey to parenthood.

While the separation marks the end of their marital relationship, Adebayo made it clear that the well-being of their son is their top priority. Her message concluded with a call for empathy: “Let’s learn to be kind to people; you have no idea what others are going through until they say it. Say unto the righteous, all is well.”

The actress’s honesty has sparked conversations about co-parenting, emotional resilience, and the importance of mental health in the public eye.
