Former Super Eagles coach and captain Sunday Oliseh says PSG were “10 times better” than their Italian opponents Inter Milan in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.
Oliseh applauded the Les Parisiens’ tactical, technical, and psychological brilliance in the wake of the 5-0 thrashing of the Nerazzurri at the Allianz Arena in Munich to claim their first-ever Champions League title.
PSG’s emphatic win set a new record for the largest margin of victory in a Champions League final, with four of the five goals scored or assisted by teenagers, including breakout 19-year-old star Désiré Doué.
Doue helped PSG on their way to history by setting up Achraf Hakimi for a simple finish after 12 minutes, adding the second eight minutes later with a shot that deflected off Inter defender Federico Dimarco.
Any doubt about the outcome was removed when PSG got the third goal their performance deserved after 63 minutes.
Ousmane Dembele’s flick released Vitinha, who played in Doue for a composed finish as he became, at 19 years and 362 days, only the third teenager to score in a Champions League final – after Patrick Kluivert for Ajax in 1995 and Carlos Alberto for Porto in 2004.
PSG were outclassing Inter in devastating style, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia running clear to beat Yann Sommer, to send Luis Enrique running down the touchline in a dance of ecstasy.
The agony was not over for Inter, who lost to Manchester City in the 2023 final.
PSG substitute Senny Mayulu, himself still only 19, became the fourth teenager to score in a Champions League final, adding a fifth goal four minutes from time.
Oliseh, who won the UEFA Intertoto Cup with Juventus in 1999, praised PSG on X, calling the victory “arguably one of the tactically, technically and psychologically best prepared Champions League final wins ever.”
His admiration echoed the sentiment of football fans worldwide, who witnessed a thrilling display of attacking football and tactical mastery.
“This is arguably one of the tactically, technically and psychologically best prepared Champions League Final victory ever by Paris Saint Germain. 10x better than i predicted.
“Wow, I had a blast watching this. And you?,” the former Ajax, Juventus and Dortmund star Oliseh tweeted.
With this landmark victory, PSG not only lifted the coveted trophy for the first time but also announced themselves as a new powerhouse, driven by an exciting generation of young talent destined for greatness.
